Happy 5th Birthday Subeta!

One of my favourite websites celebrates it’s 5th anniversary today, and I couldn’t be happier for it.

Subeta has gone through many ups and downs over the years.
One notable down was being attacked by a group of people claiming ownership of longcat. It didn’t go down too well that Subeta had an item called Longcat. And later on two ex-staff members took Subeta.org hostage. Keith Kurson (founder and owner of the site) & co had to take drastic measures to keep the website alive, and moved us all to Subeta.net.

There’s been downtime, data loss, and roll backs amongst other things too. But what has made the experience worthwhile is how much Subeta Staff have continuously given back to us over and over again.

Just yesterday I was having an issue with a user I had blocked who managed to contact me. When you block a user they shouldn’t normally be able to contact you in any way whatsoever. So I filed a support ticket and in six hours, a user admin had contacted a programmer who in turn had fixed the problem.

For those who have never heard of Subeta or are unsure what exactly goes on there, let me tell you a little bit about it.
Sometimes referred to as an online pet site, it’s actually quite a bit more than that. For example the site Neopets is all about the pets; the site Gaia Online is all about the social aspect.

Whereas Subeta is a PG (ages 13 and over) community that takes interest in virtual pets, human avatars for you to dress, tidy forums with a wide variety of topics, and many areas that are user codeable. Keith has always encouraged this particularity and I thank him for it. You can code your own profile, shops, galleries, pet profiles, journals, forum text and forum signature too. Let’s not forget that you can also use your own coding to browse the website! It’s not quite as easy as playing online bingo but it’s heaps of fun. Yep that’s right, you can choose how you want Subeta to look like while you browse. Veeeerry cool I say. πŸ˜€

Oh and did I mention that there are no random adverts all over the place? And no flash games that slow down your computer to a halt and make cheating easy?

All in all, I’m not saying Subeta.net is perfect. But I am saying that it’s fantastic and you should definitely check it out if you haven’t already. ^_^

And for those already members, check out all the items you can find during Subeta’s 5th Anniversary celebration. <3 5th Anniversary Chocolate Cupcake

  2. Hi Jo! It’s been a while since I got online (stupid university!).
Subeta has gone through a lot :O and you are so dedicated to it! I don’t remember if I already said it but I like the drawings of the things of Subeta. They look really nice and cute πŸ™‚

  3. Hiya Jo! Thanks for the sweet comment, yet again.
Thank you! I wanted to make a plain layout this time, 1) because I don’t really have that much time and 2) because it’s nice to look at, yeah as you said, soothing πŸ™‚

Ahaha yes, I HAVE been eating a lot of ice cream πŸ˜€ The category pixels are the ice cream flavors πŸ˜›

Yep, this layout will be permanent once I've fixed all these bugs! D: Thank you so much! <3 It took me some time to code it right. I remember my parents rushing me while I tried to code the containers! πŸ™‚ It allll paid off! πŸ˜€

Oh boy, you don't know how happy and good it feels to finally be able to type in 'admin@fluffytoast.info' in the 'email' box and 'fluffytoast.info' in the 'website' box again! πŸ˜€

Hmm… I will fix that too! I'll send Vi your regards! <3
