  1. We live in a nice neighborhood with lots of other homes, and a small apartment building one house down. The primary and secondary schools are just around the corner, and they can get quite busy in season. My house is situated on the edge of the neighborhood, facing a couple of crop fields, and there’s a small cow pasture down the road. The area is active but quiet.

Our garden is developing well! We have four tiny watermelons on the vine, the size of grapes. We ate our first yellow squash today in a salad. 🙂

I don’t know much about Chicago, but it is pretty close to where I live. That’s fun you tried your first hotdog there! I wish it were grey and wet here! This area is having a drought with temperatures in the high 30’s-low 40’s. The heat is really wearing on my family’s nerves, but thankfully it’s supposed to cool down this Sunday/Monday. 🙂

I’m sorry you have to let go of your angel. I’m sure you’ll find something just as lovely to replace her with. I’m really glad to hear from you again, Joanna! 🙂

  2. Lovely new layout, Joanna! I love the plum colors and the background design. Did you really draw the angel? She’s lovely! I’m really impressed with how well she’s drawn! 🙂

    1. Hi Suzy! Oh no no, I couldn’t possibly draw the top graphic; it’s way too sophisticated for my level of art right now. 🙂 In fact I can’t actually keep her up there much longer because I can’t seem to put my finger on the artist’s details anymore, so I’m going to have to take her down. :/ It was nice seeing her there for a few days though all the same. She was edited by my sister years ago and I thought I still had the original artist’s info on file but I’ve looked everywhere and must admit to defeat I think.

  3. Hi Joanna! I just wanted to pay you a little visit and say hi! I hope you will start to feel a bit better. <3

  4. Your answers are entertaining XD but your accident one, jumping on top of a rectangle thingy, gave a very ugly mental image! It must have really hurt! Number 76 reminded me of our endless emails and comments hahaha.

‘.’ I still have the letter for you that I haven’t send in an eternity… I feel so ashamed! Please forgive me that I haven’t done that Jo.

I’ll give you the url of my brother’s page and when my Dad uploads his drawings I’ll give it to you too.

  5. Thank you Joanna for all your kind words! I really appreciate your friendship. <3

I'm curious to discover the American environment, and I'm looking forward to sharing it with you. I wonder what the contrast will be like. Hopefully I will enjoy it just as much as I've enjoyed the nature here. I'm really going to miss the UK: I can't tell you how much!

I'm very sorry to hear about your dad's stroke. It must be really hard being separated from him. You are very strong to cope with your hardships. I pray your dad recovers well.

I had a go at your quiz!

    3) Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 23, give me line 17.

Perhaps you believe in evolution but not the Bible. Intellectual honesty demands that you consider all reasonable evidence, and there is valid scientific evidence for creation.
"Homeschooling High School: Planning Ahead for College Admission" by Jeanne Gowen Dennis.

    Behind, of course!

    19) What does your blog/site’s name mean?

Miss Veedol is the name of the first airplane to fly non-stop across the Pacific Ocean. Piloted by an American, it flew from Washington state, and crash-landed on a beach in Japan. When I was little my family would visit that beach. I named my website Miss Veedol because of the childhood memories I have of Japan.

I agree: communication.

    78) Can insanity bring on more creativity?

It can, although I wouldn't exalt insanity. Nevertheless, a favorite verse of mine is said to have been written by an inmate in an insane asylum. This is the verse, part of the hymn "The Love of God":

Could we with ink the ocean fill,

And were the skies of parchment made,

Were every stalk on earth a quill,

And every man a scribe by trade,

To write the love of God above,

    Would drain the ocean dry.

Nor could the scroll contain the whole,

Though stretched from sky to sky.
