In More Detail: Species Info
jollin (January 6, 2010)
A new species has been discovered in the frigid temperatures of the Arctic Frost region. After observing its playful personality for some time, researchers have decided to call this species the jollin. They are remarkably easy to tame and eager to please their owners, making them excellent pets for Subetans.
dragon, renamed rreign (November 13, 2008)
After much discussion amongst themselves, the dragons have announced that they would henceforth prefer to be referred to as rreigns. One of Subeta’s most famous rreign, Curie, has informed us that the name is pronounced much like our word rain with a growl-like sound at the beginning.
Despite the suggestive nature of the word ”prefer,” they would also like to include that anyone choosing not to respect their wishes does so at their own risk summarily fried and devoured by a more sensitive member of their species! :O
aerie, renamed irion (October 6, 2008):
Recently, a team of linguists studying the winged creature we’ve known as the Aerie discovered that we’d misunderstood these majestic beasts all along. After reviewing their language, it’s become clear that they refer to one another as irions. What we mistakenly believed to be The Aerie turned out to be the name for their home, not their species. In light of this discovery, all references to Aeries on record have been corrected.
lain (January 16, 2008):
Mysteries abound in the uncharted forests of Subeta.
A group of explorers that have been traveling the globe, searching for rare herbs for use in magical potions for the Magic Box have stumbled upon an incredible discovery–a beautiful songbird, never before seen.
They have dubbed it the Lain and brought them back with them to share with all of Subeta!
sage, renamed Mahar (update October 5, 2007):
Having spent a full month in their presence, Subetan anthropologists have now learned more of the language of their most recent discovery. Realizing that these creatures call themselves the mahar species, the researchers have agreed to encourage all of Subeta to refer to mahars by their chosen name from now on. The name, a derivative of one meaning “great seer” leads us to believe that we haven’t discovered everything there is about these magnificent creatures yet!
sage (September 4, 2007):
Known for being secluded in their caves, the Sage collect gems and jewels from Subeta. Spending countless hours shining and polishing these jewels, they store them in their own flesh.
legeica (July 16, 2007):
Running free in colorful herds, the legeica have been discovered within the Riverside Valley. No one is quite certain when they made their arrival, but it is apparent that ancient magic flows through their hearts.
manchu (July 5, 2007):
Rustling has been heard from the treetops since trepid explorers first landed on the unchartered island, but whatever was there was gone long before anyone could see it…
That is, until now.
We’ve had news from our lead explorer that a new species has been found! Dr. Manchu has named the species after himself – and sends us this picture.
archan (July 1, 2007):
Deep within the heart of the Sacred Lands, something is stirring.
Mysterious beasts have appeared–powerful felines who hold dominion over the winds. They are the archan, and they have protected Subeta’s holy grounds just out of our sight since the dawning of time.
No one knows for certain what has drawn them away from their ancient duty, but they sense that any people will be in need of guardians in the near future…
celinox (30th June 06):
Late last night, a mountain climbing excursion team set off for the highest peaks of Arctic Frost, and accidentally stumbled into the habitat of the celinox! But these cat-like creatures were friendly and proved easy to be domesticated, and you can now adopt one of your own.
